About the event

About the Play

Step into a world of cucumber sandwiches, oversized hats, and elaborate deceptions. The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s most beloved "trivial comedy for serious people," is a razor-sharp satire that skewers social rigidities with breathless wit.

Our production of Earnest strips away the heavy velvet curtains and gilded bric-a-brac of the Victorian era to reveal the raw, rhythmic electricity of Oscar Wilde’s dialogue. By adopting a minimalist aesthetic, we place the focus squarely on the characters' hilarious hypocrisy and the timeless absurdity of social performance. While our staging pays homage to Victorian silhouettes, it is infused with a "NOW" sensibility—blending classical elegance with a fast-paced, modern energy. This is a celebration of the original text that proves Wilde’s sharp-tongued commentary on identity and artifice is just as relevant in the age of social media as it was in the sitting rooms of 1895.
